DUBAI AND ABU DHABI GOLF TOURS
Money has never been an issue in these oil rich countries when they invest to develop world-class courses and facilities to attract the international golf tourism market. The Arabian Gulf and Peninsula offer fantastic golfing in a superb climate, and at its very best from October through to April. The accommodation options are first-class, as is eating out and the nightlife.
There are superb golf options in the region, and below we have given a taste of how a five-course tour taking in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Oman might shape up!
YAS LINKS YAS ISLAND - ABU DHABI (1st World Top 100 courses UAE)
Yas Links Golf Club’s Par 72 Championship Links course has rolling hills and seashore greens. It opened in 2010 and currently ranks 1st in the Top 100 courses in the UAE*
A brilliant test of golf with the inward nine in our opinion marginally the better of the two nines. To pick our favourite holes, we would say eight, nine, thirteen and the last three, all with water in play are excellent.
Facilities comprise a luxurious clubhouse, gym, swimming pool, male spa, along with world-class, floodlit practice ranges including Toptracer range technology. Dining options are excellent too, with lovely views over the mangroves and the Abu Dhabi skyline.
SAADIYAT BEACH - ABU DHABI (4th World Top 100 courses UAE)
Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is a Gary Player designed masterpiece. It is the region's first eco-conscious designed oceanfront golf course providing great views out over the Gulf. It sits on Saadiyat Island which is Abu Dhabi’s first playground targeted at the international market and in our opinion it is a great destination for golf.
Three saltwater lakes and the restored beach and sand dunes provide a links like experience and with more than 60 bunkers, it is a challenging Par 72.
The clubhouse is excellent, and the changing facilities are first-class. There’s good food options and it has a spacious terrace for relaxing after your round.
EMIRATES GOLF CLUB MAJLIS COURSE - DUBAI (7th World Top 100 courses UAE)
The Majlis, was the first grass course in the Middle East and it is a wonderful championship golf course on the edge of the city. Stretching to 7,301 yds, it is a challenging par 72 track. Majlis’s pedigree is well established as one of the finest courses in the Emirates, as it hosts the Dubai Desert Classic every year.
It is easy to forget that only thirty years ago this was just a characterless desert, and now it is a great layout with meandering fairways, seven fresh and saltwater lakes and large fast greens.
We are regularly asked what the best holes are on the courses that we tour, and feedback from those that have played Majlis is, the par three 7th over the water, the par four 8th with the city skyline as a backdrop and the brilliant closing hole, the par five 18th.
DUBAI HILLS GOLF CLUB – DUBAI (3rd World Top 100 courses UAE)
Only opened in 2018 this is a young course but has the makings of becoming a real classic. Being named the ‘Best New Course in the World’ for 2019 at the World Golf Awards, some would argue it already is!
It doesn’t play as long off the tees as Majlis or the Abu Dhabi duo, although the changes in elevation on the front nine are a great feature and unusual for many UAE courses.
The best holes in our opinion are those returning to the clubhouse, the 8th, 9th, 16th, 17th and 18th. They are designed around several lakes, and the greens really are excellent.
Course maintenance is top drawer, and the clubhouse and practice facilities are equally superb. The backdrop of downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa is a phone camera moment.
AL MOUJ CHAMPIONSHIP – OMAN (1st World Top 100 courses Oman)
Al Mouj Golf is Oman’s first Links style course crafted along a two-kilometre stretch of pristine Indian Ocean coastline, with the stunning Hajjar mountain range as its backdrop.
Designed by Greg Norman and it has received the acclaim of many pro’s as an exceptional addition to the regions many courses. It has a classic links feel with natural dunes and excellent bunkering, water comes into play on the 4th and 5th holes.
Two excellent holes in our opinion are the 9th playing along the coastline, the brilliant par three 11th requiring a well hit long iron, and the par four 18th across the bay is a fantastic finishing hole.

Depending on your group’s demographic, we recommend a selection of 5* star and premium hotels. With Abu Dhabi only 75 minutes by road, and Muscat a short 75 minute flight, we usually use Dubai as our touring base.
